Greek Holiday Bargains

Oia Santorini Greece

To say you’re going on holiday to Greece doesn’t exactly narrow it down. Holidays to this sun-baked wonder cover just about every wish-list imaginable – from voyages of discovery amid ancient city ruins and the crumbling remains of towering statues, to days spent sinking your toes into soft sugary sands or building sandcastles with the little ones. It’s fair to say that Greece is a pretty diverse place, and it’s got plenty more delights up its sleeve.

Take Santorini for instance. This volcanic island was carved out of ancient eruptions and violent explosions that created a spectacular landscape of steep rocky cliffs, fine volcanic sands and jagged outcrops of rock. It created a breathtaking landscape and one that, today, is sprinkled with signs of civilisation – from the clusters of houses teetering high atop the coastline to the quaint villages seemingly tumbling down the hillsides. This is a truly beautiful place.

And if you’ve got a strict budget in mind, fear not – because Greece has some fantastic bargains on offer. Although not your typical bargain beach break, low-cost Santorini holidays are available – it’s just a matter of knowing where to look. You can start by scouring the tour operators’ websites and searching their list of holidays for next summer – many of them may still come with early bird booking incentives to secure your custom. Failing that, you could consider a late deal – these are typically available around six weeks or less before the departure date and, while it’s a risky strategy that can’t guarantee availability, you can get lucky and snap up a great deal.

Another trick is to book outside of school and public holidays. This will obviously present a problem for families but where couples are concerned, this could be a great way to save money on your next Greek getaway…
